Positive for heartworms?:

GRR Number: 16:046

Type of Surrender:  Shelter Released from PVAC

Status: Available

Age: 6-8

Weight:  89 lbs. Ideal weight is approximately 75 lbs.

Personality: When you meet Hunter you will see that his personality exudes charm. He is not generally interested in playing with things and he seems to prefer interacting with people and other dogs. When it comes to his fellow dogs, Hunter wins the team spirit award. He is so excitid to see new dogs come his way. He does not pull or run toward. He sits and patiently waits. He loves to make new dog friends. He especially likes caring for other dogs. In the vet's waiting room today, Hunter getly sniffed, smiled and wagged with another dog. He carefully sniffed this dog patient that had obvious arthritis and hot spots. Hunter wagged, and kissed or licked the dogs nose, achy hips and stitches owies. Awww.

Watching Hunter with children is such a sweet thing it brings little tears to his foster mom's eyes. He is an incredible, gentle giant. He moves carefully, sits kindly. He is patient to listen to the child as they talk and tell stories. He sits upright attentively and does not move while being petted by children. He is very conscientious around them and takes care not to bump.

He has tolerated the series of Texas thunderstorms very well and sleeps through the night while in free-range mode. He has been constantly calm in his foster home. Hunter is a happy-go lucky chubby red-head with large brown doe eyes. He is itching for a series of walks and some healthy activities to slowly get the weight off.  He is gentle when eating and would enjoy your company while dining.

Ideal Home: The perfectly ideal home for Hunter would be a couple that has children and/or more than one relaxed + confident dog. Hunter responds well to nurturing as well as the confidence of a strong male presence. Hunter does better with separation when he is hanging out with 3 other dogs vs. just one. Hunter would also do will in a slow/modertly-paced home vs. frenetic. He has not been exposed to cats or domestic birds in his foster home.
