“GRR 13-039 Truman and GRR Sam are Permanent Fosters and could be considered part of a forgotten group.  They were not adoptable; yet loved and adored in their foster home.   Each has his own story as to why it is best they stay with GRR rather than try again and again to find a permanent home. Often times the reason a dog is not adoptable is of no fault of its own.

GRR felt it best to make Truman and GRR 15-009 Sam are Permanent Fosters as each is settled and happy in a foster home.   But both dogs will have regular , ongoing medical expenses….. exams, shots, and medications.  By sponsoring Truman and Sam as Permanent Fosters, we felt it was one more way to help GRR and ensure Truman and Sam have a wonderful life.”  Truman's anonymous sponsors.

Age: 7

Weight: 70 lbs

With a little time and love from his GRR foster parents, Truman has blossomed into the dog he was meant to be!

Before he came to GRR, it’s likely that Truman wasn’t given the chance to experience life as an indoor dog.  Now that he’s been welcomed into a loving home, his appreciation is clear with his desire for human affection.  It’s almost as if Truman is trying to say, “I can’t believe how great my life has become!”  Indeed, Truman has come a long way from his old life before GRR.

After months of treatment, Truman is now heartworm negative and ready for his opportunity to shine.  Truman has learned to walk on a leash, and is learning to be the perfect indoor gentlemen.  Sitting patiently before every meal, Truman sets a good example for his other foster buddies.  Truman is well behaved indoors, and also knows to be polite when company comes over.  He is also excelling as a member of the pack – while Truman was initially unsure of how to interact with other dogs, he has polished his social skills and even welcomed new foster dogs into the home.  His self-confidence has grown since coming to GRR, and with the help of a thundershirt, his anxiety has greatly improved during car rides and thunderstorms.

Truman feels like a real companion – he recently accompanied foster mom on a 9 day vacation to East Texas and was the perfect travel buddy!  Truman felt like a VIP as he rode in the front seat of a golf cart around the subdivision and even down to the lake.  Truman happily ran down the boat ramp to splash in the water and revel in his new adventure.

While some people might overlook Truman for not being 100% golden, we can assure you that he’s 100% heart!  Truman is such a sucker for attention that he would be an excellent candidate for a single-dog household.  He’s just happy being next to his human, and he’ll show you this appreciation with a shake and a high five!

Truman is ready to share his life and love with a forever family, and would be so grateful toward anyone who would bless him with a loving permanent home.  Would you like to meet Truman?
