Remi’s story is one of rags to riches.  In his previous life, Remi spent all his time outdoors. Hot, cold, rainy… he was forced to endure it while his family remained inside.  Because of this, his skin and ears were not healthy, and he was heartworm positive.  A caring neighbor watched this go on until they could not take it anymore.  The neighbor reached out to the owners and convinced them it would be best to surrender Remi to GRR so that he could have a better life. The owners admitted to not being able to provide the time, love, and attention that a dog requires and gave Remi the chance at a better life!

Living outside, it’s not surprising that Remi was Heartworm positive; however he has completed Heartworm Treatment and is expected to be ready for adoption October 1.

Personality: Remi is such a sweet boy and loves being around people.  He has had no accidents in the house because he’s perfect at letting you know when he has to do his business.. Remi hasn't had any cat or children exposure and still barks a bit at the household resident dog. He's calm in the car, but needs a little help getting in and out. Remi is good on a leash put does pull when he sees something interesting down the way.

Remi likes toys and will get a thrown ball and bring it back but he hasn’t yet learned to give the ball back. Maybe he's thinking, "if you wanted it, why did you throw it away?" Remi is a wonderfully good boy and just wants to be around someone all the time. He is very people-focused and loves the attention of a good grooming. He sleeps through the night and hasn't shown any fear of thunderstorms.

Remi is generally quite calm so would be wonderful with an owner who works from home during the day.  He does like to play with toys and enjoys walks. One of his favorite past times is chasing his tail! He has learned to sit and is working on "shake."  Remi is happiest when you are watching TV and can put his head in your lap.  He truly is a sweet, people-focused boy.

Ideal Home: At this time, we are in the process of evaluating Remi’s interaction with other dogs but feel he needs to be an only dog. He will likely need lots of time to gain confidence and trust around other dogs. Remi would do best with a calm, loving family who can pay lots of attention to him.
