Personality: This adorable 8-month-old pup is, well, a typical 8-month-old pup who is high-energy, needs lots of exercise, mental stimulation, and puppy training. He seems to be housebroken because goes to the back door when he needs to go out. There has been one pee and one poop accident in the house, but other than that he’s been a good boy.

Emory is crate trained, although he does whine and bark a little at first but eventually settles down. He is crated when left alone in the house. He’s met some 7–10-year-old children and was very well behaved…happy and excited and very gentle. He gets all excited when he sees other dogs, wanting very badly to play. He loves to play tug-of -war with them and to wrestle. He’s a rough-and-tumble pup, but never gets out of control.

His foster folks have cats. He barks and Gizmo, the boss cat who will hiss at him and run, causing Emory to bark. There is no barking with the other cats. He approaches and sniffs and is not rough. He does like to chase them, but they just casually run away.

Emory is a great car rider. He gets excited when it’s time for a ride. He loves to go with his folks in the car. He’s pretty good on the leash, too. He walks ahead but does not pull, walking side by side with his foster brother Chewie, basically following his lead. What Chewie does, he does.

As far as retrieving, Emory will go get whatever is thrown and may or may not bring it back, but he doesn’t like to let it go. He’s trying to learn “drop it.” His favorite thing is to play tug-of-war with the toy.

As far as his behavior in the house, he makes it hard to remember he is only 6 months old because he is so very good in the house. There’s been no inappropriate chewing because he has lots of toys and his brother Chewie to play with. He’s done no counter surfing or “dumpster diving.” When it comes to nighttime, this cutie sleeps through the night on the bed, touching a human. But he needs a little cuddling before lights out!

Emory has the energy of a normal 8-month-old puppy. He plays hard and sleeps hard. After a wrestling match with Chewie, he will pass right out. He has normal puppy excitement and anything new, loves to please, and always wants to do the right thing. He is full of that typical Golden sweetness.

Boy, does he love attention. When he goes on walking trails, he thinks every human he sees on the path wants and should meet him. He pulls over to that person and if he could talk, he would say, “Hi, I’m Emory” over and over again.

Ideal Home: As a typical puppy, Emory needs lots of activity and stimulation and needs a family with another young dog so he can burn off energy playing with that dog. He understands social cues from other dogs so does well.  Emory needs a home where he will get plenty activity and attention. He loves long walks and going on trails, so an active family is essential.  Emory needs to continue obedience training and likely would do well with agility and other types of training for mental stimulation.
