Positive for heartworms?:
Extraordinary Golden Fund recipient?:

GRR Number: 16-109

Type of Surrender: Owner Turn In

Status: Available

Age: 13 1/2

Weight: 74

Personality: As you can see, Toby is an older gentleman enjoying what we humans call his sunset years. He’s a wonderful old boy who is a seasoned veteran of the house. This means he is totally housebroken and sleeps uncrated at the side of his foster’s bed. At this age, Toby is serene and set in his ways. He’s calm around children and either plays gently with or ignores the household cat.

As can be the case with any of God’s creatures as they get older, Toby’s appetite hasn’t been what it used to be. The GRR vets prescribed something to enhance his appetite, which is working so well that it has led to a bit of counter surfing. But as his appetite returns to normal and the dosage of medicine is gradually lowered, this issue will likely cease. Toby is also heartworm positive, but because of his age, treatment is not needed.

Toby figures that his years of playing with balls and retrieving are behind him, but he certainly hasn’t outgrown his love of attention. He may remind you that he is there with a gentle pat with his paw on your leg. “Hey, I’m down here! Pet me, please!”

Ideal Home:  The best home for Toby is one with loving people who understand that he probably doesn’t have a lot of time left, but who are willing to give all they can to this sweet boy and make his last days his best days.
