Personality:

My name is Theo.  I'm a dapper young man.  I have warm brown eyes and flowing light golden locks.  I have long muscular legs and strong paws that are perfect for holding.  I will admit my hind quarters are quite the thing to look at too!  I enjoy long walks around the neighborhood, relaxing with a cool water beverage on the patio, and watching TV and movies if there are dogs on it.  I recently watched an old episode of Lassie!  Boy she talks a lot!  My taste buds are open to a wide variety of foods but I am quite happy with a good bowl of healthy kibble.  I don't even mind if you would want to take a bite for yourself.  I may be open to you having kids but I haven't really been exposed so we'll have to see.  I am a very young man after all and I have so many things to look forward to!  I will lay my head in your hand and stare lovingly into your eyes as long as you touch me.  I'm not a huge fan of yard work (lawnmowers) or housework (vacuums) but that doesn't mean I'm lazy and won't help.  If you give me a bowl of water, I'll wet the floors for your mopping from my drippy lips.   You'll never have to put down the toilet lid after me because I do my business outside.  If I start to smell like a stinky boy (all boys end up that way.  We can't help it) I will let you groom me to make me handsome again.

I try to make friends of my kind wherever I go by verbalizing (barking) my intent.  Not everyone is a mind reader you know!  I do like the pretty girls!  I like to make new friends whether they have 2 legs or 4.  The 2 legged kind have hands that pet me and I'm quite fond of that. Now let me tell you about cats.  They are weird creatures.  I don't mind them though but I've heard stories so I try not to get too close.  I've been living with one that thinks he is one of me!  Ha!  Did I mention my flowing golden locks?  He's not even close!  I am good company in the car.  I'll just sit there quietly and let you pick all the radio stations without complaining.  I like looking out of the window and will just listen to whatever you want to tell me.  I promise to never ask "Are we there yet?"  I gotta be honest.  I'm a catch.  Why am I still single?  It's as simple as my forever family hasn't found me yet!  Is it you?

Ideal home: Theo is a great dog for a single person or family who is looking for a sweet and loving companion and “best buddy.” He is very attentive and alert and even though he hasn’t had much training he is eager to learn and please his humans. He is very calm and obedient, though and has great energy and gets along just fine with other 4 legged housemates. Theo will give the love and attention your family is looking for and will lay contented right by your side as your new best “Golden” friend.

Theo needs a family who is able to take him through Heartworm Treatment which will require Theo to be on exercise restrictions for two months while going through treatment.  He is an active boy who will benefit in being in a home that has a large-breed, female dog.  Theo has never been with children so we do not recommend a family with young children --- teens are fine but he’d likely be too much for younger children.  He also will benefit from a family that will set boundaries and take him through basic obedience training.  Theo will be a wonderful dog for a family that will exercise him regularly (after heartworm treatment is completed) and give him lots of attention.
