Weight:  57.6 lbs. “ideal”

Personality:  Meet Duke. He is a mellow fellow, a cool, calm and collected Golden with fluffy ears and feather duster tail. His coat is normally full, but just now it is very short, as his previous owner gave him a shave for the summer. Duke is so appreciative of his new GRR foster care, since he got rid of all those ticks and fleas, and is receiving heartworm treatment.

In his new home, Duke immediately got along famously with his foster’s other dogs and roams along with the pack naturally. He is intrigued by the napping cat, as he will sit a foot away from her and just observe, non-aggressively. Cats are truly mysterious creatures worthy of his study.

He is a quiet gentle soul, but will get curious if the other dogs bark at the window; otherwise he leaves the guard duties to others. He is the definitively “attentive” dog, staying by your side or near you. If he needs your attention or just wants to say hello, he will sit in front of you and flop his paw on your leg/lap. Nice manners, that boy, and a true companion.

Duke figured out the dog door in no time flat, and tells us he is smarter than average. His car manners are top notch, as he rides calmly and observes the passing parade. He sleeps soundly through the night, and has occasional dreams while sleeping that result in little grunts or groans.

Duke did well at the vet, with clear eyes and ears, and good coat. He is right on the mark with respect to weight and is in good shape.

Viewer Caution: Don’t stare too long at Duke’s photos or you will swear you feel his paw patting you!  This boy has a magnetic personality.

Ideal Home:   Duke’s calm outlook on life and natural affinity for bonding with his family makes him a natural for a home with older children. He obviously enjoys the company of other dogs, so a multi-dog family would be just fine with him. A medium to low energy household would match his personality well.
