Buffy came to GRR through the Bastrop Animal Shelter. She was a bit undernourished, with course straw-like fur. She wasn’t just hungry for food, but for attention as well and couldn’t get enough of our GRR intake volunteer. She was very excited to get out of that darn kennel and jump, play and roll around in the grass.

Now that she is in her foster home, a whole new world is opening up for her. She gets along well with her new foster brother and sister, Marley and Bailey. The three chase each other tirelessly, not to mention the cows and donkeys on the other side of the fence. She is curious about the outdoor cat

Like any typical dog, golden retriever or not, she got terribly excited when she saw a raccoon outside the window. In fact she was so excited that she literally “peed her pants.” Whoops! But, the good news is that it is the only time she’s had an accident in the house.

Buffy is a sweet girl who knows how to control her jumping. She was timid at first, but now is fine when she realizes nothing bad is going to happen to her. She absolutely loves her attention, She walks right alongside her foster mom when they are in the yard. Walking on the leash is still a work in progress but she is improving.

Buffy is a sweetheart who wants to be petted and loved on more than anything else. She looks at you like she understands everything you're saying --- she's such a smart girl, you’re never quite sure that she doesn't. Her eyes are so expressive. She likes to walk just in front of you and suddenly stop, which is why we started calling her JoJo. "Get back, JoJo" is something we said over and over again. Buffy is a beautiful dog.

Buffy has age-appropriate energy and actions.  With continued care, attention and training from her adopting family, Buffy will be a wonderful, lovable member of the family. She would be great with a calm loving family (preferably without a cat!) and would enjoy playing with older children.  Since she gets along great with other dogs so another dog in the family is a plus.
