Personality: In his prior life, Brazos was a big man on campus.  He lived on a university campus as a stray during last summer, living the life of a young uninhibited pup. According to his Turkish rescue group, he was the first to initiate a game of chasing a tennis ball with any passing student, and Frisbees were his favorite toy with the undergraduates. These social perks on campus were not all that great though, since he had no home and food was a sometimes thing. The summer semester came to an end, and the handsome stray Golden was taken to an Istanbul animal shelter. As fate would have it, he is now one lucky GRR guy, transported over 6,000 miles to a Texas forever home.

Compared with being alone on the streets of Istanbul, he is now surrounded by caring fosters and fine canine buddies providing the opportunity for him to show his true character. In his Texas environs, almost every aspect of life is different, full of unexpected experiences for this very intelligent young man. He is intrigued with the big screen TV and its giant talking heads. It never ceases to be a source of amazement. Brazos continues to look behind the TV to see where the people are! In the kitchen, he is impressed when ice cubes fly out of the door of the refrigerator. When riding in the car, he is quiet, still and alert sitting in the second seat of the car. It’s all very new and he is slightly in awe of traveling in a car.

These great experiences pale in comparison to the extreme change in the care and nutrition that Brazos now has. Through all of this amazing transformation, Brazos has maintained his outgoing, happy and active personality. He is calm and well behaved in the house and sleeps through the night. He absolutely loves grooming, perhaps due to an extreme shortage in his past life. In his short stay, he has shown himself to be quite loving, attentive to his foster parents and especially friendly with all other dogs – hanging out, sleeping and playing. He has bluntly indicated, though, that he is not fond of cats!

Brazos loves to chase a tennis ball as well as a soccer ball, but not yet retrieve it.  He will, however, repeatedly throw the ball up in the air and catch it himself! Quite the athlete.

Brazos’ overall health is excellent, and he has a healthy appetite, including gently taking treats when offered!

By all accounts, young Brazos has acclimated quickly and loves to show his appreciation. He certainly has all the right stuff to be a major league Golden family member.

Ideal home: Brazos would most like an active home life, balanced between regular walks, play and quiet times curled up next to you.  (Multiple canine brothers and sisters- great, but no kitties please.) More details will emerge as he interacts with his GRR foster parents.
