Personality: Once Winchester gets all cleaned up he’s going to be a fine looking golden retriever! He’s on the small side, with beautiful golden fur and good feathering on his tail and his bloomers! What a pretty boy! And he knows if he wants to stay pretty, that grooming is the way to go. He’s very patient while his foster tends to his beauty needs.

Winchester likes to stick close to his foster and would prefer that he go outside with him when it’s time to do his business. He may have a little separation anxiety because he jumps on the back door if his foster leaves him outside alone. But time in a good home will help him realize that he’s not REALLY ever going to be alone. When  he’s in the house, Winchester is very calm. So far toys don’t seem to be his thing but you can bet that will change!

Winchester sleeps outside the crate just fine and is crated when nobody is home. Cats must have been a new and exotic thing to him, because he was initially quite scared of the cat in the foster house, but he’s getting used to kitty, too. He must be determined to keep his trim figure, because he isn’t a food gobbler, preferring to nibble on his food throughout the day.

Ideal Home: Winchester is very low key and would be best suited to a family that will “chillax” with him. So far he has very little experience with other dogs and is very timid around children, so maybe an adults-only household with no other dogs would the way to go with Winchester.
