Personality:

Sienna came from the Laredo Animal Care Facility where she was described as being friendly and quiet. “She is a doll and loves to hug and be hugged.”

After her first few days in her foster home, she has been found to be outgoing, although a bit timid when given a specific command. She does jump a bit, but is gentle and not the least bit aggressive. She is happy and calm around children, in fact she likes to slow dance with the kids.

Her foster family reports that she seems to be completely housetrained and has had no accidents. Since she is not crated and is free to roam the house, this is a very good thing. Sienna also sleeps through the night without waking her foster parents.

This small dainty girl likes to be groomed and is very calm throughout the process.

Despite having manners, little Sienna does beg for food and does tend to gobble her food. But when given a treat, she takes it gently. Other than a little begging, she is very well mannered around the house. She plays well and will chase a ball, but that whole “bring it back” thing is still a bit foreign!

Sienna is friendly with other dogs and plays well with them. At this point, she has not been exposed to cats, so her reaction to them is yet to be determined.

She tugs a little while on the leash and since our rainy May has turned into a hot dry summer, her family hasn’t been able to learn if she has a fear of thunder or other loud noise.

We do know that she does not like to be left alone outside and will search for escape routes in the fence. She will also try to bolt out the front door whenever she can. But she is becoming more and more comfortable in her foster home, so the need to scoot out the fence or shoot out the door may not be in an issue as time goes on.

Ideal home: Since Sienna likes kids and loves to play with other dogs, a home with children and/or other dogs seems suited to her. Until we know about her reactions to cats, recommend a non-cat family at this time. We will be learning more about her likes and dislikes at time goes on and will be able to make a more detailed recommendation on the ideal home for Sienna.
