Pippa is one of the beautiful Goldens that GRR has rescued through a partnership with a Mexico City shelter.  Found wandering as a homeless stray on the streets of Mexico City, she was taken to the animal shelter. Once there, she was spotted by GRR’s volunteer and after proper vetting, Pippa was off to a new life in Texas!

Personality: As one of the Mexico City Goldens, this young lady is mild mannered and happy as all get-out to be with her GRR fosters. She has settled into the routine of daily life in her adopted country with amazing speed even with all of the “discovery” involved, and acclimated with very little friction.

Pippa has been quite friendly with the fosters’ other female Golden (a very positive sign), and will join in a game of chase the ball with the best of them.  It didn’t take her long to cultivate a love of tennis balls! But she is a gentle girl, and does not mind at all if the other dog wins the race for the ball. Her low key nature and friendliness might just win her the “Miss Congeniality” award around the neighborhood.   She adores being petted and groomed (true Golden here), and drying off with a towel after a bath is just great! Pippa happened to meet two children (a 5 year old and 2 year old) and was very calm and sweet during their visit.  It’s too soon to know how she interacts with felines, though. More updates as they become available.

Although little is known about her earlier life, she appears to be reliably house trained and enjoys spending nights in her kennel.  She sleeps soundly, and has a set schedule of retiring for the night at 9:30 and rising the next morning at 6:30 sharp.  Once awake, she announces her desire for a trip to the backyard - so make no mistake, Pippa is ready for a new day!

Pippa can’t believe the transition from her previous life. While she is quite content inside the house, she really enjoys exploring the backyard and relaxing on the back porch taking in her new surroundings.  She seems to intuitively know her place in the household. For example, she recently ventured to put both paws up on the counter to survey the cooking, but as soon as her foster said “No” she jumped down, and has not repeated the attempt! No counter surfing for this girl. Her even-tempered nature extends to her reaction to thunderstorms.  She basically was not affected at all by the thunder and wanted to go outside to investigate.  That calm is a trait any Golden owner would appreciate!

Just look at Pippa’s photos once more – from the snapshots taken at the shelter through those at her GRR foster home, her captivating eyes reflect an inner joy that she is more than ready to share with you. This gorgeous girl has snuggle power!

Ideal Home:    Pippa’s foster relates that she would feel right at home in a small family where she would be the only dog, or perhaps one of a pair of canines.  Her relaxed companionship is a perfect match for leisurely playing ball in the backyard and taking short walks in the neighborhood.
