Personality: Layla is a 3-year-old golden girl who is looking for her perfect walking companion! This sweet girl is already growing into her full potential and showing those classic golden traits. In just a few short days she is already showing her love for her foster humans by giving gentle “hugs” whenever possible. In fact, her foster family says that she is perfect in almost every single way!

Layla’s activity level is about average right now while she is recovering from being spayed. She is not letting her recovery stop her from showing her love for water. She actually found a plastic wash pan about 14-18 inches wide that is used for bird water and stuffed herself into it and sat right down. It was so cute! It was reported by her former family that she very much enjoyed water activities.

At this point she hasn’t shown much interest in her foster dog sibling, but the relationship is fairly new. She has shown though that she rides in the car with no problem and is a great walker! She is actually the perfect walking companion, striding right next to her foster mom the whole way. No pulling or tugging at all!

Her coat is a little thin and flaky with no pantaloons, but our hopes are that she will get back her full, beautiful golden coat with a few months of quality nutrition. Layla can wait up to 18 hours before she finally goes potty and usually only releases herself 1-2 times per day. Vets are looking for a possible cause, or is this just an interesting personality trait?

So far Layla hasn’t spent much time alone, which she is OK with! She has done very well in the house with her foster parents during the day and staying a few hours in the crate during bed time (about 4 hours). Otherwise she can usually be found trotting in the yard or snoring away at her foster parent’s feet.

Layla has shown no signs of food aggression or fear of thunderstorms. She does very well when getting groomed and mostly just enjoys being around people. A real loving and affectionate golden!

Ideal Home: Layla would do best in a home as either a single dog or with some doggy siblings. Most importantly, she would love to be part of a family who gives her plenty of attention and walks! Bonus points if there is some water nearby that she can enjoy. If you are look for a sweet young lady who exhibits those classic golden traits, then look no further! Layla just may be your girl!
