Right before the end of Hanukkah, three sister puppies (Menorah, Latke and Dreidel) were rescued after being dumped across from a shelter. In order to ensure their safety, GRR immediately snatched them up as they needed medical care. Menorah and Latke are together in a foster home and  Dreidel is in a Foster-Pending-Adoption home.

Personality: Little Latke came in with lots of hair loss on her face, particularly around her eyes. She also had ear infections and was underweight. All issues are being treated and they are improving, plus she is gaining weight. Housebreaking training is in full swing, but she’s young and may have never lived in a house before, so there are still some accidents. Latke loves to be in her crate for some quiet nap time but she isn’t left alone often.

She hasn’t been around children yet, but she’s such a sweet puppy her foster mom suspects she would get along wonderfully with them. No cats in the picture yet, either. As far as other dogs go, she would love to get in the mix with her foster family’s other dogs, but they aren’t ready to except the pups yet. Introductions will be made slowly.

Her one time in the car she got car sick, understandably because of nerves and just having eaten. She doesn’t mind the leash. Latke tends to try to surf the counter, probably from having to scrounge for every morsel in her pre-GRR life. But when corrected, she sits excitedly awaiting a little nibble.

No retrieving yet for Latke and she doesn’t seem to be the least bit interested in toys at this point, even when enticed.

Latke hates baths and tried to escape the first one. Once she figures out how good that going to feel on her skin, she’ll change her mind.

Latke is high energy believe it or not!  She will pounce her sister Menorah and tumble outside in the grass.  Fortunately, she is teaching her sister how to play and become involved to the point where  Menorah now will engage and both will frolic and run about.  Latke has a special part of the grass which is very thick and the second she goes outside she will head for this patch of grass and roll all over.  It’s a delight to witness.

There is a way to go with both girls. They are finally wagging their tails and getting excited when mommy comes around. Latke likes to paw at you as if to shake hands and she will do this until she gets your attention. She has never gotten aggressive with her sister, even over food.

Ideal Home: Latke needs a home with another dog who will accept her as she just wants to be a part of the family, be loved and to play.  she needs to learn how to play with toys and have another dog to frolic with. We are looking for a Foster-Pend-Adopt home who can continue her medical treatment (at GRR expense) and who will take her to her full potential as Latke will be amazing.
