Sweetie
Can you guess how I got my name? A nice lady found me wandering stray a few
months ago and took me in to make sure nothing bad happened to me while I was
out on my own. Then she called GRR and said, “I have a real sweetheart of a dog,
and I hope you can find her a wonderful new home.” Of course, I got my
“admission ticket” just as soon as the GRR volunteer met me! She gave me a rave
review. I really am a sweetie.
I am a small Golden, just 45 pounds, and a dainty girl. I remind my foster mommy
of a little fawn. I enjoy belly and chest rubs and sleeping on couches and beds.
In fact, you may recognize me from Master Bedroom, a famous painting, by Andrew
Wyeth.* Yes, I am the inspiration for the painting! I just love sleeping on my
master’s bed. My foster mommy thinks I sleep on furniture because it keeps me
warm and cozy. I am still pretty skinny, but working on getting a little padding
to help me brave the winter weather!
If I need to go outside to use the facilities, I will let you know. I use
barking as a means of communicating with humans, but I’m not a loudmouth and
bark only if I need something… or if someone comes to the door, but my Golden
foster brother and sister usually have to let me know when that is happening. (I
am usually too busy getting my belly rubbed.) I do not greet people by jumping
or licking—how outré would THAT be! A simple tail wag is more my style.
I must admit, I sure do like people food, so I tend to beg at the table… and
don’t leave me alone near a full table, either! I am working on this naughty
habit, though, and each day I get a little better.
My foster mommy says I am a very smart dog. I know SIT, COME, DOWN, and SPEAK. I
was a little bit reserved at first, but now I come up and ask for some loving.
Before, they would have to come find me and convince me to join in on the
loving… not any more! Those tummy rubs sure are great. No wonder the other
Goldens line up for them.
Wouldn’t you love to have a calm, sweet girl who’ll cuddle by your side and
enjoy all the petting you can give her? Please come to meet me!
