UPDATE 4/20
Wonderful Sammie has been with us for
almost 9 months now. She has an adorable personality!
She is such a character. She'll let you know when she wants to play, when
she is ready to eat. She’s mature
and relaxed, but by no means elderly—she’s outgoing, full of life. She loves to
go walking, swimming, riding in the car. In fact, swimming is such a delight for
her that I’m sure she’d want to be with a family who can take her swimming. And
exercise is really important for her, to keep her nice and trim and lessen
stress on those joints.
She’s so well behaved in the house—and
has been from the start—that we were shocked when she counter-surfed for the
very first time last month. She stole some of my Easter candy -- a Dove
chocolate bunny. Sammie was fine...
just on a sugar high. I on the
other hand was not so fine. However,
I am sure she was only trying to look out for my waistline!
At first, Sammie wanted to chase our
indoor-outdoor cat. Now she’s used
to having the cat around and is more into sniffing the kitty and looking for cat
food.
Sammie is definitely a people dog. She
loves to hang out with you when you’re watching TV, reading, cooking, etc.
She just likes to check in with you every now and then, or have you do
the same to her. Our neighbors have two little boys, ages 3 and 5, and the
5-year-old just loves to pet Sammie because she’s so soft and sweet.
You won’t find a nicer girl than Sammie!
Sammie
is such a sweetheart. At 8 years old she's settled into her fur... she's
comfortable with who she is, and she’s not afraid to tell you what she wants.
She lives to swim, eat, take drives in the car, go on walks, play keep-away with
her toys, and get tons of love and attention. She is an independent girl who
enjoys going on adventures with you but is also happy to just hang out. This
girl is beautiful—and she knows it and doesn’t hesitate to use it to get her
way. Fortunately, her needs are simple and fun to give! — a treat, a car ride, a
swim, an extra hug. (I may be biased but she is a great hugger.)
Sammie had ACL surgery at the end of June and has healed like a champ. She's
walking, running, and swimming… in fact, as I’ve mentioned before, Sammie was
born to swim! At the lake she’s happy to entertain herself , just paddling back
and forth. However, if you decide to throw a stick, then the retriever in her
promptly comes out . She'll swim out ,grab the stick, and bring it back to
you—and before you've even picked it up, she's back in the water trying to get a
headstart on the next throw! You can see Sammie the Mermaid in the photos here
(and even though she is soaking wet, you can see that all her fur has grown back
in, too!).
Sammie gets along tremendously with our three dogs and one cat. Our four-legged
family ranges in age from 5 to 15 years old, and she fits right in. We recently
took in two 10-week-old pups, and she tolerates them fine unless they’re jumping
in her face. Then she simply moves as far away from the young pests as possible.
Sammie has been an absolute joy to have in our house and as part of our family
for the past 4 months. She is ready for her forever family to take her home and
love her.
