Lucky

LUCKY soon got the nickname “Huggy Lucky”—and you can guess why. This dog is as affectionate as they come. The 3-year-old stray gets along great with other dogs and every human he meets. He’s completed his heartworm treatment and is looking for a forever family.

Lucky is calm and laidback. He’s been an easy foster! He sleeps nicely through the night; he’s not a picky eater and happily polishes off his meals each day. He doesn’t try to get on furniture or beds. He gets along well with our other dogs (Gordon, a 6-year-old mix, and Meg, a 12-year-old Golden). He’s gentle with kids and adults, and is content just being in the same room with you. Of course, as his “huggy” nickname tells you, he DOES enjoy being petted. He can never have enough! When he wants some attention, he’ll give you a gentle nudge.

This smart boy learns very quickly. Like most Goldens, he’s sometimes a bit too clever for his own good—turns out he’s an accomplished “dumpster diver” who enjoys removing paper (of any kind) from the trash basket. We’ve thwarted him by keeping the kitchen trash in a closet. And early on in his stay, he removed the top rail of a baby gate—guess he couldn’t believe we really MEANT to confine him in the kitchen!

Now that his heartworm treatment has been completed, Lucky loves getting out and going on walks. Car rides are another favorite. He’s a social guy.

Lucky can be something of a rascal. He likes to tote a stuffed toy out the door when he’s heading out for a bathroom break. We stop him and take the toy—but sometimes he’ll just go get it again, or collect one of the yard shoes we leave just outside the door. And be warned… He likes to, shall we say, “greet” (ahem!) his humans with the same friendly sniffing he would give a dog buddy… if you know what I mean!

If you want an affectionate Golden friend to keep you company throughout the day and share your social rounds, then Lucky just might be the one for you.

Lucky, update 3/29

Lucky here! I have had a busy few weeks. One of my ears had  been bothering me, sot it was off to the vet for a look-see. As luck would have it, the “staff cat” was roaming the clinic lobby. I was curious and friendly, but the cat was suspicious and persnickety… oh well, I DID say she was a cat. But now I can safely say that I have been “cat-tested,” and I passed with flying colors. (Can’t say the same for that cat.)

The vet decided that I needed a little operation on my ear, so I had my surgery on the 26th and everything went great. Before that, though, I went to the GRR picnic on the 22nd. I had a blast! Did you see me there?

Oh and by the way, when I hopped on the scales at the vet’s, I had lost another pound. So, I am trimming down nicely.

 More news later!
