Adopted

Scully is a classy redhead with the longest eyelashes you have ever seen—they really are about one full inch long! This sweet 5-year-old girl came to GRR with her brother “Mulder.” She’d lived with him since puppyhood, so she lost her original family and her lifelong playmate all at once—but Scully is a free spirit and has rebounded well.  She has such zest for life!

Scully shares her foster home with multiple cats and two other dogs.  She gets along with all the other house critters very well and exhibits no aggression whatever.  In fact, after a few days of settling in, she has decided her new playmates are lots of  fun. She enjoys short periods of zestful romping throughout the day—she will play hard for a few minutes, then settle down for a rest until it’s time for another little “power burst.”

Scully loves her walks and is not shy about telling her foster dad that it’s time to head out! Long walks are her specialty. That’s amazing, considering that Scully is a tad chunky at 73 pounds, but  the extra weight doesn’t seem to slow her down.  She is amazingly well trained on the leash—there’s absolutely no pulling or misbehaving when other dogs walk by.  Although we walk by a nice stream each day, Scully is not interested in swimming.

Scully has a history of occasional seizures, not an uncommon problem in Goldens.  The vet has put her on phenobarbital and potassium bromide, and that has brought the issue under good control.  She has completely adjusted to the meds (they certainly don’t seem to make her lethargic or dopey), and you’d never know she has any problem at all.

Scully is very well behaved.  She’s very friendly to everyone, but never jumps on anyone.  She loves affection and returns it as well.  She’s a wonderful ambassador for the Golden Retriever breed.  She might not be a good watch dog because she loves everybody, but as a loving companion she can’t be beat!
