Adopted

Betsy... If you want a sweet, loving, laidback companion who doesn’t demand a whole lot of attention, then Betsy is for you. She’s a beautiful girl and small in stature, with a thick, gorgeous light golden coat. We’re guessing she’s between 5 and 7 years old, but since she came in as a stray, so we don’t know exactly how old she is… or much else about her background, either! We do know that she must have been an indoor dog, as she doesn’t want to spend much time outside at all. And judging from her girth (she is very tubby), it’s plain that she was fed way too much and not exercised a great deal. She is now on the green bean diet and seems to love it. Surprisingly, she is a very dainty eater. She does not gobble her food, nor does she beg while you’re having your own dinner. She doesn’t steal her foster brother Bucky’s food, either, even though he tends to wander about while dining. Once she went over to smell his food, but when I said “no,” she promptly backed away from it.

Betsy was sad when she first came to us. We all think she missed her home very much. She tended to keep to herself those first couple of days… but when you walked up to her, she looked up with those sweet brown eyes and wagged her tail to beat the band. She was a little shy, but loved all the pets we could give her. After two weeks in our home, she’s definitely more comfortable here and follows us around from room to room. She sleeps well during the night – and prefers to snooze on the floor, even though there are three dog beds she could use!

Betsy and Bucky get along great, but she has no interest in playing. She does like her walks and is good on a leash. She may not have had many toys in her life, as she has absolutely no interest in toys or balls. She does seem to enjoy sterilized bones; she’ll take one, and lick and munch on it a bit.

Anyone wanting a wonderful, sweet, undemanding Golden will love this little girl. She so wants to be part of a family again. She truly has been an easy dog to have around the house and would do well with any family wanting a calm companion.
