Blondie, oh Blondie—who will be
the lucky ones to have you live in their home????
Blondie is a precious, light blonde, petite (just 45 pounds) bundle of sweet,
sweet sugar. Found running stray and taken to the shelter a few weeks ago, she
is just a young girl and will need someone to continue her schooling—but with
her sweet temperament and willingness to learn, it won’t be hard or take too
long to teach her SIT, DOWN, STAY, and all the rest. And as far as housetraining
goes, she already appears to have that under control!
Blondie goes into her crate with a little encouragement; she might give a few
little yips, but calms down quickly for the night. When she hears you moving
around in the morning, she lets you know she’s ready to exit the crate and go
outside for morning duties. In the house, Blondie will take a toy out of the
basket, play with it, and then go back for another… and another… and she’ll keep
it up until all the toys are out. She likes to have a toy to chew—a girl has to
work those baby teeth!—and will pull the eyes out of her stuffies, but all in
all she’s not at all destructive.
She is completely calm on the leash and wonderful in the car. You can brush her
all day long and she won't put up a fuss. When you cut her nails, she has to
look around every now and then to check on what you are doing. Taking a bath
scared her at first, but she calmed right down and let me finish.
Blondie is very happy entertaining herself or getting attention from her family.
In fact, she will sneak into your lap so gently and quietly you don't even know
she is doing it until she is there! She has many animal friends at our house
(five dogs, three cats, and three horses) and gets along famously with all of
them. If a cat runs, she’ll run after it, but she’s gentle when she catches up.
When visitors come to the door, Blondie may bark a few times to announce their
arrival… and then she hurries to welcome them, but hangs back and waits for them
to say ”hi” before she approaches. She needs to be reassured that nobody is
going to hurt her. Sensitive girl! She is on the shy side and needs time to
learn to trust. But once you have her trust, you won’t find a more loving little
dog. What an absolute pleasure she is to have in our home! She would be a keeper
if we didn't already have three of our own.
Oh! One more cute thing. When Blondie is lying down, she crosses her front paws
at the ankles, just like the elegant young lady she is!
