Adopted

Zed... Do you like petting dogs with soft, fluffy ears? Are you looking for a companion to join you on long walks? Enjoy throwing a ball and playing tug of war? If so, then Zed is the dog for you!

Zed is a sweet, playful boy of 6 1/2, whose greatest hope is to one day be able to fit three toys in his mouth at once. He has already mastered the art of grabbing two at a time, and that is generally how he greets us when we come home.

He has been a wonderful house guest. He quickly learned that the furniture was off limits, and he never counter surfs… although he will hang around the kitchen, hoping that you'll drop something yummy while you cook. He doesn't bat a single eyelash at thunderstorms, and he gives our two cats the respect they deserve. All he really wants is to be loved and petted. And when that's not possible, he just wants to be in the same room with you.

Zed loves going for walks and gets so excited that he shakes with anticipation while he waits for the command to go out the door. But when the walk is over and the humans are being boring, he is happy to settle down with a plush toy and chill out. He also enjoys playing indoor fetch with a plush toy, but hasn't quite grasped the “letting go of the ball” part of the game when we play outside! He is a good swimmer and enjoys car rides. He likes being brushed, and although he isn't wild about getting a bath, he will climb into the tub if enticed with a treat.

He is such a smart boy! He already knows SIT, PLACE, UP, and FREE, and we're working on DOWN. He learns very quickly! When he first came to us, he would try to bolt through the door as soon as it opened, but with a little training and several treats, he has learned that he can only go through the door when he hears the word FREE. He thinks that's the best word ever. Zed was also a big leash puller when he came to us. We joked that he was training to pull a dog sled. But with some training and the help of a Gentle Leader, Zed has come a long way. Now he’ll walk by your side with a some minor pulling, just to see if you're paying attention.

Zed's forever family will be very lucky to have him. He is a wonderful dog!
