Adopted

Gilly is a gorgeous 78-pound girl who gets along with everyone—she is just wonderful!

Here’s a list of her favorite things:
* Gilly just loves to be groomed. When she sees that brush come out, she is ready to head out to the back porch, where she promptly puts her front paws on my legs for some undercoat brushing. She then patiently sits and lets me brush all of the rest of her. I clipped her nails and the shaggy fur on her paws this past weekend and she didn’t mind a bit! She just loves all the attention.

* Gilly’s very favorite thing is car rides. I roll down all four windows a little, and she lets the breeze blow on her face. When she has had enough fresh air, she quietly lies down on the back seat and goes to sleep. On the few occasions she’s managed to sneak out the front door, all I have to do is say “Gilly, let’s go for a car ride!”—and she is right there. (Talking about sneaking out, she immediately runs to the front door to go “bye-bye” whenever I put on my “presentable” clothes. Since I work from home, I usually hang around the house in sloppy clothes—so when I get the “real” clothes on, she thinks it’s a sign that I must be taking her out! She parks herself at that front door and waits to head out! She gets quite disappointed if she can’t come along.)

* Gilly loves to go on walks, and we are slowly increasing our distance. She did half-miles easily, but after a 1 1/2-mile walk the other day, she was pretty worn out! So, we are going to take it slow.

* At first, Gilly showed no interest in squeaky toys, but now that she is settled in, the fuzzy squeaky animals are her best pals. She carries them around with her and is usually squeaking one right by me while I am trying to work. She loves to “go fetch!” her toys when I throw them in my living room for her, and she brings them right back to mommy to throw again. This can go on for 30 minutes before she lies down and quits! She also has a favorite non-squeaky animal that she babies.

* I have three little chihuahuas and four cats and she likes all of them. When one is in my lap and she wants some lap time, she throws those big paws of hers on me, but she is very careful not to hit the little ones. She tries to engage them in play, but they are just content to let her bathe them a bit rather than play.

* Gilly loves children, too, and she’s very good with my 7-year-old granddaughter and her friends. She likes the attention the kids in the park give her when we go on a walk.

One thing you have to do with this gal is make sure the treats aren’t where she can get them—she likes to help herself if you are not paying attention!

Gilly is just a sweetheart of a dog. I’d keep her myself if we were up for another family member right now! I know she will fit in well with anyone—especially if there are kids and other dogs for her to play with.
