Clyde ...The line forms here. This is one sweet, well-mannered, GORGEOUS dog. This young hunk’s next career could be modeling dog beds for the Orvis catalog. He already has a fan club.

Everyone who meets Clyde asks the same thing: “How could anyone surrender this adorable/beautiful/sweet dog??” And then, “Can I have him??” He was turned in to a shelter with a name and a short haircut, but no explanation. And one more thing—a case of heartworms. First things first, he was neutered, then transported to his (totally enamored) foster home to recover and begin his heartworm treatment.

All about Clyde:

He’s a big eater, and easily motivated by food.

He walks very nicely on a leash.

Thunderstorms? Doesn’t sweat the small stuff, but needs comfort during the BIG ones.

When you call him or say “Sit!” he sinks to the ground for a pet. He’s a little confused about some commands but his memory returns miraculously if there’s a treat involved.

He never met a stranger (human or canine).

When he wags his tail, his whole rear end wags too.

He doesn’t jump on people or beg (too much). But he will swipe food when you leave it out and aren’t watching!

He sleeps soundly and quietly by the bed at night—with only occasional rabbit-chasing- dream sounds.

The Beatles’ “Why Don’t We Do It in the Road” is his theme song… a bit uncouth, but he often forgoes the grass.

He’s a klutz.

He loves to snuggle.

And he’s just a big baby.

The Clydester’s slightly off-kilter walk raised some questions about his hips. An X-ray revealed a very healthy backside ... and a rifle bullet, buried in his left leg! (So, like the legendary outlaw, he may once have been caught in a gunfight—but the resemblance ends there! This guy is as sweet and law-abiding as a dog can be.) The vet said the bullet won’t need to be removed, because the leg is healed and he’s not in any pain. Once he finishes up his heartworm treatments he will be ready for a wonderful (and very lucky) family... and perhaps a girlfriend named Bonnie?
