Carly
is a sweet, gentle girl with a kind soul. She came to GRR as a stray who was
wandering with two other dogs—and in her foster home, she has three dog siblings
and one feline “sister.” She has been very friendly with everyone. Carly and the
kitty have come a long way—they went from each being scared of the other to the
cat charging Carly to see just how fast a canine can backpedal out of the room!
Carly’s favorite hobbies include eating, going for walks, getting her belly
rubbed, playing with a tennis ball, running up and down the fence on critter
patrol, and getting her noggin massaged. She seems to be fond of carrying a pink
slipper around in her mouth. She doesn’t want to chew it; she just wants to keep
you close to her. That is kind of sweet, if you ask me.
This girl is very good on walks—she’s not one to pull on the leash, and she
usually likes to walk next to you. She’s excited to meet new people but is not
very jumpy or pushy and calms down quickly. The exception to that rule is when
you first come home… she is so excited to see you that she’ll jump for
attention. She just can’t wait to hear about your day! We’ve been working on
that, but we’ve noticed she will cower if you use a stern voice, so happy,
upbeat praise is the order of the day! Carly is easy to groom and loves getting
brushed so much so that she will cut in line over and over again. She will also
come to you and then let you clean out her ears. That isn’t her favorite thing,
but she puts up with it anyway.
Carly may have been more an outside dog in her past life, but she has adapted
quite well to living indoors. She has not had a single accident in the house.
When she was introduced to her sleeping crate in our bedroom, she didn’t much
care for the idea at first, but by day two she was fine with the sleeping
arrangements. She is a very intelligent girl who learns quickly.
Carly is a people dog and a people pleaser, happiest when she is getting her
head or belly rubbed. If you stop before she is ready she’ll nudge your hand a
few times to let you know that you aren’t done yet. When she is not being
rubbed, she lies quietly near you, keeping an eye on your every move. She is a
good-size girl who deserves a wonderful, loving family to care for her, love
her, and exercise the heck out of her. Carly has been a wonderful house guest,
and she will be a wonderful addition to her forever family!
