Heather...Hi!
My name is Heather and I was rescued in the nick of time from a Central Texas
Animal Shelter. My foster dad cannot believe that I was “that close” to not
making it. He tells me all the time how much fun it is just having me around.
I am a very energetic 1 1/2-year-old. I’ve had puppies, but we don’t know where
they are now… and anyway, I had my spay surgery a couple of weeks ago, so there
won’t be any more coming along! I love life at my foster home, but I’m ready to
find my forever family. I love kids, other dogs, and curling up with my head in
a lap… any lap. I love to play ball in the backyard and I learned “fetch” all on
my own. I can chase and bring that ball back all day long, but I prefer to get a
belly rub after dropping it at your feet... you know, just one of those quick
ones.
When new people come to visit I get really excited and happy to see them, so I
sometimes jump up—but I do get down when told. I had a minor ear infection when
I was found and my foster dad says I took the ear drops like a champ. I never
whined or complained once! My ears are all better now, so I don’t even need to
do the drops except for the occasional cleaning.
I must admit that my first nickname here was “Heather Houdini.” Just one day
after I moved in to my foster home, the door to the backyard was open so I could
go in and out… and I found a low area where the ground had settled, dug a little
bit, and sq-u-eeeeeeze-d under the fence, leaving tufts of fur behind. At that
point I didn’t really know where I was supposed to be staying! Fortunately, I
was quickly apprehended. But I just want my new family to know I might be a
little bit confused at first and tempted to do some unauthorized exploration!
I really hope I can be adopted soon, because I’m ready to settle into a forever
home. My foster dad wanted me to add that he hopes you don’t judge the dog by
the pictures because he had a hard time capturing my “true essence.” However, I
can assure you that I aim to please and you will not be disappointed!
PS: Heather’s foster dad says: “Quite honestly, she is just a great dog, plain
and simple. You could write pretty much anything good about her and I’m sure it
wouldn’t be far from the truth!”
