Zeppo
has been a pure delight & an absolute sweetheart!
He gets along marvelously with all our other dogs—cuddling with Madeleine (age
14) under my desk, wrestling with Young Caroline (2), playing tug with Milly
(15) or Chili (11), hanging out with McCarthy (5), chasing birds with Marlon
(2). He happily goes along on our nightly 5:00 Dog Drive: 7 huge dogs squished
into the back of the Explorer, riding through the neighborhood at 15 mph.
Zeppo is an evening cuddler. After supper, he comes over to my comfortable chair
& climbs onto my lap to watch TV. At 65 pounds, you’d think he would be too
heavy, but instead he feels just right. Oh, how we love this boy.
Zeppo is almost trustworthy loose in the house, but he can be mischievously age
appropriate. We have learned to put away pillows (he chewed off the fringe); he
snagged 2 big muffins off the back of the counter & brought us the plastic
container; and then there was his most astonishing & physically impressive
event: Gary once found him strolling across our kitchen counter! If only we’d
had a camera at the ready! But fair warning—with this kiddo, put the pillows &
the food out of reach, and babygate him in a puppy-proofed room when you leave.
;-)
Zeppo snoozes through thunderstorms, not minding them a bit. He is totally
housetrained, of course. He is calm for is age, although he loves to romp & play
too. He takes treats gently and waits his turn for bedtime snacks. He sleeps
quietly all night long until morning, when he hops on the bed for a happy hello.
Did I mention that he is sweet, sweet, sweet?
Whoever adopts this charmer will be lucky, indeed. Dogs like this come along
once in a Blue Moon.
