Adopted

Caesar Hi! My name is Caesar. As you can tell from my pictures, I’m a handsome boy. My foster parents tell me I have some things in common with a guy named Elvis Presley—namely, his bedroom eyes and the fact that I originally came from Mississippi. I’m clueless about a dude named Elvis, but I’m going to take the comparison as a compliment.

I overheard the vet tell my foster mom that I’m 80% grown, so that means I’m about 7 or 8 months old. He looked in my mouth and said I had all of my grown-up teeth. Well, I could have told him that, because I chew just fine on Kongs, my foster sister’s cheek and ears, and an occasional magazine. (My foster brother taught me how to do that, and we got into some big trouble. Mom didn’t like it one bit when she came home and found magazine remnants blanketing the living room floor. Let me assure you, I don’t listen to Cannon anymore!)

Sure would like it if I could grow up to be a big strapping fellow like Cannon, but my foster mom thinks I’m dreaming. Sixty pounds might be the biggest I ever get, but I’m playing and working hard to build up my muscles anyway. My foster sister and I play tug-of-war a lot, and I can feel those muscles rippling! I’ve heard if I eat all of my food it’ll add a few pounds, so I sit politely for breakfast or dinner to be served, then I gobble up every morsel. Nobody could say I’m a finicky eater.

My foster dad takes me to work with him every day. I love to ride in the car and take in all the sights and sounds of downtown Austin. We take lots of walks around town, too. I’m great on leash and have learned to sit at curbs or whenever I’m asked to do so. My dad discovered that I have to go to one special place in downtown Austin to potty. He said it’s the darnedest thing he’s ever seen! When people come into his office, I’m always friendly, but there are days when I don’t get up to greet them. Just depends on my mood or how much playing I’ve been doing. Oh, yeah, I like to sleep on my back, all relaxed with my legs splayed and my tongue hanging out. Wonder if they have awards for actors who play dead? If so, I should get a nomination.

Guess that brings me to my personality. Mom says I am like some of those Hollywood types, whatever that means. I’m not that “hang all over you” kind of Golden. I enjoy attention and belly rubs, but you won’t see me plastered up against you while you’re trying to sleep or watch TV. I like the cool floor most nights, but I will cuddle up next to Mom or Dad on the bed every morning. Reminds them it’s time to get up and go for our morning walk.

I’m obliging when my family asks me to go in my crate for awhile when they leave (guess they don’t want four dogs out loose in the house), but my dad lets me wander about his office when he leaves. I’m proud to say that I’ve been left alone for as long as five hours and haven’t bothered a thing (except maybe a cardboard box). When my parents are eating dinner, I go off and curl up in the floor. My foster pack taught me that it isn’t polite to beg.

So what kind of forever home would I like to find? Well, it would be great to have a doggie friend. I have one foster brother and two foster sisters, and they’re so much fun! Since I’m still a puppy, young kids aren’t on my list of favorite things, but I might like teenagers ’cause they don’t want to scrunch me up like a stuffed toy, and they understand a guy who appreciates having his own space. (But don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind one bit when my mom and dad give me big slobbery kisses!) I love to go for long walks, and we take at least two a day, so I definitely want a family who is willing to take me out on strolls through the neighborhood and parks. What I really want is a family who will love me as much as my foster family does.
