Adopted

Remy Hi!! My name is Remy, and I’m about four months old now. I’m growing up fast. GRR rescued me from Town Lake Animal Shelter. The people who took me there told Town Lake I was a Golden Retriever/Irish setter mix, but all I know is that everyone tells me how handsome and cute I am. I am loving life now in my foster home, and am happy, HAPPY exploring my world! I’m smart too…after I felt better, it only took a few days to housetrain me, and I know how to sit, stay, come when called, and am learning to lie down when my foster mom asks me to.

I keep a close eye on my foster mom, and faithfully follow her around the parts of the house where I’m allowed. My mom put up some baby gates to keep me out of trouble, and I have a crate in the kitchen where I can watch her if she can’t watch me. I sleep through the night, and I like to get up around 6 AM with my foster family. I love to chew on my toys, and I love to pick anything else up, like Mom’s slippers (I drop them immediately when she says “No,” but I just have to tease her a little bit). My favorite toys are stuffed toys and chew toys and firewood! I also love it when lunch is served in my treat ball… I roll it all over the kitchen to get my kibble out!

I love to wrestle with my spaniel friend, even though he gets tired of me biting at his tail and ears sometimes. My Golden Retriever friend sometimes plays with me, but has reminded me several times that I am a puppy, so I treat him with respect. I’ve met lots of other dogs, and really enjoy playing with them. I have three girls at my foster house, and I am learning not to mouth them or their things. All their toys are upstairs, which is a bummer. I learned to go up the stairs on my first try, and I thought I was in dog heaven with all the new toys to explore! But my foster mom put a gate on the stairs, so I’m back to playing with my own toys.

I love to be outdoors when my family is with me. I’m curious about the pool at my foster house, but haven’t tested the waters in it yet (but I did try swimming at a lake just last weekend, and had a great time!). I love to hide in the tall, grassy bushes in the backyard. I love the garden and am not much of a digger, but I do like to hide a few toys in the garden, hoping they’ll grow some more toys… I love my leash, and going for walks and runs with all the members of my foster family. I am learning to ride in the car.

I know how to “sit,” and to sit quietly if my mom is opening my pen to let me out. I LOVE to eat, so I am learning not to raid the pantry for snacks, or to jump at my bowl too quickly (my mom has taught me to sit and stay politely until I can start my breakfast or dinner). I am good about coming when someone calls my name. Sometimes I jump up to see what is on tables and chairs and am told “Off!” I would LOVE to go to a training class since I’ve enjoyed the training I get at my foster home, and I would love to see other dogs and people!
