Adopted

Kimber came to GRR from owners who didn’t have the time to give this little girl the kind of attention she needed. They were concerned about her retiring personality, telling us, “She’s EXTREMELY timid and cowers almost constantly… she digs in the yard and chews inappropriately…for us, she’s untrainable. But she loves cats and kids and other dogs.” They wanted Kimber to find a home where she could gain more confidence, so they contacted GRR. And in foster care, Kimber has just blossomed! Here’s the report from her foster mom:

We just love this sweet, beautiful little girl! We have only had her in our home for two weeks, and she has settled right in. She will sit on the floor or the couch while you watch TV or work at the computer and will even keep you company while you cook dinner——wherever you are, she is there with you. She is quiet in her crate but would love to spend the night with you. If you let her up on the couch to snuggle with you, she is in heaven!

She is housebroken and will pace if she needs to go out. She comes when called, loves to run like the wind and jump bushes like a deer, and her smile can be seen from across the field. She couldn’t care less about the horse and the donkey in the backyard. She loves the house cats and will play gently with them. Everything Kimber does is gentle: taking treats, playing with the dogs and cats, walking alongside you. She gets frightened at certain things (she does NOT care for the washer and dryer when they are running!) and may pull on the leash, but not very hard. She is still a little skittish, especially if you make a sudden move, but the longer she is with us, the more relaxed she becomes.

Kimber knows SIT, DOWN, and STAY. Waiting at the door, she will sit and stay until we tell her it is OK to go out. Who said she was "untrainable"? A ride in the car is a GREAT treat! And oh! She loves to go for a swim and what a great little swimmer she is!!

Kimber wants to trust you and love you, and be loved in return. This little girl has sooooo much to offer. Unconditional love, for one thing...... she is wonderful and will be a GREAT dog for the right person. We are fostering Magic, too, and these two dogs would stay with us forever if we didn't already have three of our own. Magic and Kimber are both wonderful, loving, well-behaved Goldens. We love them both!
