Magic... My first impression of Magic was: “Oh my, I have
a lion in my home.” His owners had clipped him “so he wouldn't shed” (!!) and he
only had a full coat around his neck and head, and at the end of his tail.
Fortunately, his coat is growing back, and soon he’ll be covered in soft,
reddish gold fur.
Magic is sooooo handsome and just overflowing with love. He has the kindest and
sweetest personality—he’s a true Golden. I just don't know where to start....
Indoors,
he is the best of dogs. He does not bark (or if he does, we've never heard him).
He’s completely housebroken, and will whine and lie at the door when he needs to
go outside. He has the prettiest "sit,” and he knows "down" and "shake." He is
quiet in his crate at night. He’s happy to keep you company; he’ll lie near you
on the floor while you watch TV or work at the computer. If you get down on the
floor with him, he'll try to sit on your lap or just lie beside you. He
entertains himself with stuffed animals or a chew toy, but he also likes to play
with other dogs. He is well mannered while having his nails cut, getting a bath,
or being brushed.
Magic just loves to run and prance around outside. He will grab something to
carry around and either sit near you with it or play "catch me if you can" with
one of the other dogs. He is good on a leash but likes to walk with his nose to
the ground—there are so many good smells to investigate! If he’s not on a lead,
getting him to come to you can be a bit tricky—he will play his favorite game of
"catch me” instead. If you chase him down with a treat in your hand, he will
come to you eventually… but not readily. And forget it if you don't have that
treat! He just wants to stay outside and play. Can't blame him… but we’re
working on this one.
Magic is curious about our cats but only wants to play. One of our cats even
snuggles up with him on the couch. He has made friends with the horse and donkey
in the backyard—in fact, he’ll make friends with anyone. What a nice
personality!!!!
No wolfing down his food either. He eats slowly and is gentle when taking treats
from your hand. We feed him in his crate because he will let the other dogs eat
his food.
Magic is a wonderful passenger in the car. He jumps right in, finds a comfy
spot, and is ready to go. When we arrive at our destination, he does get excited
and pull on the leash; he may even try to jump up a bit on a new friend. But
“no” settles him down – he’ll only try it one more time after that. He just
loves to meet new people!
Magic has so many good qualities, with even more appearing every day. Won't you
let him into your life? He would love to be your Best Friend.
