Randy...Naked tennis balls anyone??

Hey! Hey everyone! Let me introduce myself. My name is Randy. I am a fast-running 47-pound one-year-old skinny red Golden Retriever. I can float over the backyard in about three jumps, and I love to pounce on stuffed animals and tennis balls. Don’t you just hate the fuzz on those tennis balls? I don’t know why they make ‘em like that. It takes me almost all day to pull all that fuzz off.

My vet says I am 100% mahogany-colored Golden and, well, maybe just a tiny bit less than 100% show quality…but if I had a few more “big names” in my pedigree, you would have been paying big bucks for me from a fancy breeder instead of saving me from the San Antonio pound. By the way, thank you GRR for saving me!

Dad and I have been working on my “social skills.” All I know is I get a cookie when I pee in the backyard and a stern “no” if I do it in the house. But I am a fast learner and I like to do things right! For instance, I have already learned how to catch Cheerios in mid-air and sit for my treats, and I TRY not steal food off the counters… although sometimes things like hamburger rolls are just too tempting! Mom says I should not be on the bed, but that is where Dad is… what part of “social” does she not understand? My Dad says I have typical-young-Golden-Retriever ADD, and… oh, there goes the cat… what were we talking about? Tennis balls? Yeah, I can also walk on the leash but let’s run and chase naked tennis balls… it is more fun!

This last weekend, my foster Dad took me and my two housemates to the cabin at Canyon Lake. Now that was fuuuunnn! I got to ride in the car. No problem there. I did not have to sleep in the crate. Yippee! The backyard had deer, possums, squirrels, and other animals running through it. Ha! Not after I was there. And, we went swimming. Who would have thought I did not know how to swim? But Dad saved me, the cell phone still works, and we continued to chase balls in the shallow end of the lake. I was able to run like the wind, swim like a fish, sleep like a rock, and eat like a horse. What a great time! I even took my tennis balls. Did you know they float even without their fuzz?

Dad took the camera to the lake and got some good action shots of me swimming and my wet dog look. By the way, I have a white star on my chest that kind of looks like the Texas Longhorn logo. You have to use your imagination. Mom thinks it is very cute.

I am looking for a neat forever family. I want a family I can go jogging with, kids and dogs I can play with, and someone I can follow everywhere. I want to do everything your family does. Did I tell you I even follow Dad into the water closet? Yep, guaranteed 10 minutes of ear scratching and great discussions. That’s what I want!

I am still a lot of puppy but without most of the spots on the carpet. OK, I might make a few tiny spots when my ADD grabs me, but I am a “fast learner and a good puppy.” That was the direct quote from my vet, by the way!

So now you know a little about me.. I need to go back to work on those tennis balls. Contact the GRR Adoption Team so I can learn some stuff about you. If we are a match, I will try my best to fit right into our family and I will bring my own tennis balls now that I have them just the way I like them!

Unconditional Love,
Randy
