Jerry...  Hi guys! My name is Jerry, and boy has my life changed lately. Just a few weeks ago I was at an Animal Control place and a nice lady who volunteers there heard someone say, “his time is up.” She asked if I could have just one more day while she hunted like mad for a rescue group to take me—and it worked, because she found GRR! I got out that very day. And now that shelter knows about GRR, too, because when another Golden showed up a day later they called GRR right away. (That pup is Tommy, and we might actually be brothers!)

Anyway, after my narrow escape, things are great! I am about 7 months old, or so they tell me. But age is just a number – so – 5 months, 6 months, 8 months, who knows, what it mostly translates to is P-U-P-P-Y. I weigh about 50 pounds, and I'm a redhead with blonde highlights. I have gorgeous brown eyes and shiny white teeth, and though I'm a little on the skinny side, I'm working on gaining some weight. And now that I'm living with this wonderful family who feeds me three times a day AND gives me "treats" for something as simple as sitting down (what can I say... they're pushovers), I'm starting to fill out a little bit.

Besides good looks, I also have a great personality. I'm a little lover boy, and I really feel like my main purpose in life is to make people smile and feel happy. I'm adjusting pretty well to this indoor house kind of life, but there are just so many rules to learn!! Fortunately I have the greatest Golden foster sister in the world, Lizzie, who is helping me learn the ropes. I absolutely LOVE her! I was a little nervous about this "crate" they keep telling us to go into, but Lizzie let me know that every time we go in, we get something delicious. Works for me! I am actually starting to like the crate, but only if I can see Lizzie in her crate right across from me. I really don't like being alone.

My foster moms? What can I say? I love them, and if either of them is home, I'm usually not far from them. They think I'm pretty special too, and they especially like the way I cuddle. I'm really happy to lie right in their laps while they rub my belly, brush me, clean my ears, anything. The only thing that’s still a “work in progress,” so to speak, is the bathroom rules around here. You see, when I was living on the streets, I got used to "going" whenever and wherever I felt the need. My foster family says the floor is a no-no, though, so I'm trying really hard to remember that. I've had a few accidents, but I'm learning that as soon as I go outside on the grass, someone is going to be right there with a piece of pepperoni. Wow! Can you think of a better reason to practice self-control?

I’m also not sure about how I feel about cats. There are two here, and I just can't resist the temptation to chase them!! I just want to meet them and chat with them, but they always get away. Spoilsports! Once they're gone, though, I just go back to what I was doing, which 99% of the time is playing with Lizzie. I am a puppy, so my energy level is through the roof. Here are my favorite activities: playing tug of war, chasing Lizzie in the backyard (and having her chase me), the two of us chewing opposite ends of the same bone, jumping OVER the couch and landing on Lizzie (okay, that just happened once... or maybe twice), eating Kongs, and pretty much any other type of play that comes my way. I really, really like other dogs. Especially ones that want to play with me. I think I might get bored on my own, unless there is a human there to play with me... a lot.

I'm learning to walk on a leash, but those humans just go soooo slow, I end up pulling them along. I’m working on going slower, though. I've learned SIT and DOWN, and I would really, really like to go to obedience classes. That would be a blast!! I'm really hoping that I find a forever human who can keep up with me. I want to go everywhere (I love car rides), do everything, try new things (I haven't had a chance to try swimming yet), and just live life to the fullest. My foster parents tell me that I'm really brave and that I've even taught Lizzie that new situations, places, and people are fun and not scary. I'm looking forward to meeting a nice, loving family with lots of time and tons of energy to devote to my puppy hood. In return, I will give you the sweetest glances, lots of cuddle time, the best kisses, and a lifetime of love and devotion.
