Heath
came in as a stray from the Town Lake Animal Shelter all the way back in May.
He's made it through HW treatment, with some complications--he developed a
pulmonary embolism, but thankfully, it resolved & he recovered! His foster mom
had been noticing a lot of back-end weakness, though, and once the heartworm
treatment was nearing an end she took Heath in for X-rays. They say lightning
doesn't strike in the same place twice--but believe it or not, Heath needs the
very same back surgery that Rali has
just had. Thanks to the generous contributions of our members, we're in the
process of scheduling Heath's operation as well.
Heath's
foster mom says, "I would describe Heath as protective, paternal, a FABULOUS
companion, stable, in need of loving and consistent care. He's not shy, but he's
not pushy, either. I really adore this boy. He's the easiest dog I've ever cared
for. He's very affectionate, loves being petted and hugged. He has a
terrifically funny bark, which he uses to protest things occasionally (like
being crated, or when the other dogs aren't behaving as he'd like them to
behave). It's not at all loud or obnoxious, but kind of an airy, huffy bark. An
endearing quality is that he is never ever far from you, and will lie by your
side for hours, completely content. He doesn't get up on furniture at all,
doesn't even try, though he's come up on the bed once when I invited him. He
fits in fabulously, and has done so since day one. I just love this boy! He's
sweet, undemanding, affectionate, supportive (hard to explain that, but he is),
very well mannered, responds well to direction and verbal correction. He would
be super easy to keep!"
