Daisy is our first foster dog, and all I can say is that I hope they are all like her. She is just a dream. She is a very small girl, weighing only around 35 pounds. We don’t know much about her other than that she was turned into a shelter after being attacked by two other dogs. Despite this bad experience, she is still friendly towards other dogs and is not skittish around people or other animals. She is also very gentle with our three cats; of course, this was only after being too friendly and being swatted on the nose a few times.
Daisy is continually mistaken for being a puppy because of her size, and I still find it hard to believe she is just a little more than 1 1/2 years old. In fact, when she was turned into the shelter, everyone there assumed she was around 6 months old. However, according to the vet, she is simply a very small Golden (possibly with a touch of some other, smaller breed in her family tree) and should not get too much larger. She is a perfect choice for the family who wants a Golden but would prefer a dog who isn’t too large.
Daisy is incredibly well-behaved, obedient, gentle, and playful. She is totally housebroken and doesn’t appear to be prone to eating or destroying non-dog items. She also is very responsive to commands and genuinely wants to please you. Daisy is content for hours with a large rawhide bone and a nice soft patch of grass to lie on. She also loves to fetch, swim, and go for walks.
The only bad habits I can identify are her tendency to want to be a lap dog! She knows she is tiny and is quite determined to make a spot on your lap wherever you sit or lie down. She simply adores being around people and being given love. I call her my shadow, because she will follow me wherever I go when I am home. Anytime we bend down to pet her or kiss her nose, she collapses at our feet and rolls over on her back for a belly rub. She is just so sweet and loving.
Daisy is eager for a permanent home. She would be fine in a home with children or other dogs, but if she had her choice, she would prefer to be the only dog as she has an Alpha personality and would like to hog all your attention for herself!! So if you are looking for a small, quiet, loving, and highly trainable dog to adopt, Daisy is your girl!!
