Waco
Bob, 3 1/2 year old:
Howdy, everybody! I’m Waco Bob,
and I’m the Director of Public Relations for Goldens everywhere. It’s my
job to greet every stranger I meet with a smile and a tail wag to remind
them how beautiful and happy each day is!
You might be wondering about my name and history. I’m actually named after
my hero, Bob, from Waco. He saw me in the shelter there when my time was
up and gathered me up to start a new life. He found out a little about my
background, too. My first years were spent as a yard dog. I was so lonely
and covered in ticks. I escaped a couple of times, and my owner finally
told Animal Control that he didn’t want me back any more. The folks at the
Waco shelter adopted me out, but I was sent right back when my new family
learned that I had heartworms—and a very heavy load, too. No wonder I got
tired a lot!
That’s when my pal, Bob, stepped in to help me—and after he brought me to
Austin, people just started calling me “Bob” too. I’ve had a great time
finally being an indoor dog! I get to keep my foster parents company all
the time, and I let my foster mom hug and kiss on me a bunch! It’s a good
thing that I’m so happy just soaking up the love, because I had to rest up
after I got to Austin—it took a while for me to be strong enough to get my
heartworm shots, and then of course I had to stay pretty quiet and calm
while the medicine was working. But hooray! I am fully recovered now.
I
get along with everybody and everything… what else can the PR director do?
Morning walks are a great time to stop to say hello to sleepy neighbors on
their way to their cars to start the day. They usually look grumpy, but I
put a big smile on their faces when I stop to say hello! I think every day
is the best one yet, and I think every stranger is just a friend I haven’t
met yet.
My foster brother, Tucker, and I, love to wrestle and chase. We have a
great time! He likes to bark at the mailman, which makes me look to my
foster parents with concern. “The mailman is our friend!” I keep telling
Tucker, but he doesn’t listen.
If you are looking for a guard dog, I’m not your guy. My job is to spread
love and joy wherever I go, and I’m just starting my mission! I need a
nice home where I can continue my work as GR representative of all things
happy and loving! Will you be my new home?
P.S. If you have lots of corners in your home where I can properly smoosh
up my face for a nice nap, that would be GRRreat!
This handsome boy from the Waco Humane Society is as lovable as they come.
He’s had to spend about 3 or 4 months now getting healthy enough to
withstand his HW injections.
UPDATE 8/23: Bob is HW free and ready to go!
