ADOPTED

Brodie

04/18/2006:

I have been remiss in not sending you all an email and letting you know how very much we love and adore Brodie. Really, we cannot imagine our lives without him.

Brodie is such a sweetie pie. He doesn't jump. He doesn't bark. He just wants to play and hang out with us. He's still a big old puppy. We take him for a run 3-5 times a week, about 3 or 4 miles each time. We also take him to an open area in our neighborhood where we throw the ball to him. We've had to put a limit on the number of throws he can have as he will run himself to exhaustion otherwise and it's getting so hot now. Sometimes Brodie goes to work with Nelan and he has been to two of my races just to watch me run.

He sleeps on the floor next to our bed every night and he has lots of stuffed animals to play with in the house. He seems pretty happy though he recently had a spirochete infection and had to be on antibiotics.

The whole neighborhood loves him, especially the little kids next door. They beg to come over and play with him and he likes to sit in their laps (though he's about twice their weight and size), which they find really funny.

Our cat has still not adjusted completely to life with Brodie and she has taken to living in our laundry room, but she has shown improvement and maybe one day the two can peacefully coexist in the same room.

Recently we took Brodie to the groomers where he got an oatmeal bath and a trim. He was getting a bit shaggy and now he's more clean cut. We usually bathe him every other week or so but we splurged and let him get something fancy at the groomers.

We are so very grateful to have Brodie in our lives and in our home.
