Rupert...It was straight out of the shelter and off to the vet for Rupert—he had a case of the flu that needed some attention fast. Now feeling much better, he’s putting on weight and showing everyone what a great Golden he is. Here’s the report from his foster family:

Rupert is a 3-year-old boy with a very laid-back personality. When he came to us from the shelter, he was very skinny, but he is filling out nicely. He gets along well with kids, cats, and other dogs. When Maggie, our 10-month-old Golden, gets a little too pushy, he does put her in her place—he will growl if she tries to swipe his current bone! He’s not overly protective of his food bowl, though, and he’s very gentle taking treats.

Normal babygates won't contain him—he can jump right over them. He just wants to hang out with everybody else and be in the middle of any action. (The up side of that is we've discovered that he can be trusted anywhere in the house!)

Rupert is completely housebroken. He has learned “sit,” and we are working on “down” and “stay.” He walks well on the leash and is a good car rider. Grooming is a breeze, as he really enjoys all the attention. We crate him at night, but he’s shown an interest in sleeping beside our bed, and may have done that in his former life. Rupert is a loving dog and so companionable, always ready with a smile, a kiss, and a thunderous tail wag for his people. He’ll make a wonderful family member!
