Kaycee
...Four-year-old Kaycee is a red-haired charmer who came to GRR when her owners
could no longer care for her. Here’s the report from her foster home:
Kaycee is like velvet ... she has the softest coat you can imagine. Her
coal-black nose is in perfect contrast with her red fur, and her new pink collar
completes the picture! She’s petite and very “girly,” with a slim little face.
She promptly wins the heart of everyone she meets. She’s such a wiggle worm when
she greets you and is an all-around happy girl. She follows you around the house
like a shadow and would love to climb into your lap if you’d let her, but we’re
doing our best to discourage that! She’s so excited to meet new folks that she
does jump up a bit (something else we are working on), but overall her manners
are excellent. Despite living the life of a yard dog in her former home, she’s
perfectly housetrained – not one single accident!
Kaycee would rather be petted than fed. That helps her keep her girlish figure,
of course, but she is making great strides on eating a healthy diet with a good
appetite.
Kaycee loves children and will roll right over to be brushed by our
grandchildren. She is patient with them and just eats up all that love and
affection. She needs to be eased into a good exercise program, and we have
started on that—Kaycee’s “circuit training” includes walking, retrieving, and
swimming. Get the leash out and you have made her day! She’ll go after a ball
and bring it back to you, but she’s not as obsessed with fetch as some Goldens
are. She is learning to swim, and in time will be a pro. She likes our pool, and
now that she’s all healed up from her spay surgery, she can really work on her
dog paddling skills.
Of course, time out to relax and keep you company is just fine, too. “Just take
me home and pet me!” – that is all this lovely girl asks.
