Timmy is a 7-month-old little blonde guy who is awfully cute! We don’t know where he came from, but he must have somehow wandered off from his first family or even just been abandoned. A Good Samaritan saw him hanging around her property and spent two weeks trying to catch him—he was just too frightened to come to her. Finally, she won his trust and managed to corral him and take him to a local shelter. The shelter was overcrowded and couldn’t keep Timmy, but fortunately the staff contacted GRR … and one of our volunteers collected him that very day.

When Timmy arrived at his new foster home, he was still a little shy and timid. But it didn’t take him long to learn that people are great, and now he’s usually the first one to race to me for petting and attention. He is learning all about toys and chewies, too. On one of his first days here, we gave him a chew bone—he tossed it around for a bit, then carefully stashed it in the back of his crate for later enjoyment and re-emerged for some socializing. It was so cute!

Timmy is surprisingly well-behaved for his age and is doing well with his house training. In fact, he hasn’t had even a single accident so far in his foster home (amazing!), but he IS a puppy, so he might get distracted and forget himself. Timmy goes right into his crate and is quiet all night long. He plays very well with our four other big Goldens and really loves to romp and chase. He’s on the small side for a Golden, weighing just 30 pounds at 6 months of age. The vet thinks he will top out at around 50 pounds—a perfect size, but smaller than average for a male Golden.

Timmy is a very loving little fellow. And did I mention how cute he is? He eats well, sleeps soundly, and is in the pink of health. He’s very playful and is learning to fetch. This boy will make a wonderful dog for some lucky family!

Update 10/12/2005:

What’s faster than a speeding tennis ball? Able to leap over his Golden sister, Dolly, in a single bound? And has a voice more powerful than – well, if not louder than a locomotive, then certainly more grown-up than you might expect?? Why, it’s Timmy! This long-legged, 34-pound bundle of energy and love is all those things and much, much more. He is seven months old now and having a wonderful time in his foster home.

Timmy loves chew toys and knows just how to get the fur off a tennis ball. He also enjoys tug-o-war with Riley, his foster brother … and sometimes they tug on each other. The ever-popular “bitey head” is a real favorite, and Timmy isn’t above trying to take somebody down by the ankle, either! It’s all in good fun, and when the play sessions get going, it’s a just a pile of fast-moving fur zooming through the house and yard.

Timmy is well trained to the crate and is quiet and well-behaved there. In fact, there are times when he goes in just to have a little “me time,” without any coaxing at all. He's not completely housebroken yet, but I’d say he is 95 percent there. He’s not a dawdler when he goes outside for potty breaks, either—he does his business efficiently and then wants to start playing again!

For all his small stature, Timmy has a Big Dog Bark. When you hear the occasional “woof” from him, you look all around and wonder where that big voice is coming from before you pinpoint the petite blond source. He’s not a noisy dog at all——just has an impressive basso profundo way of announcing, “Ooh, Daddy's home!” or “Look at those dogs next door!” or “I've got to go outside, please!”

Timmy really would do best in a family with other dogs, preferably dogs on the younger side who will welcome the chance to play and play and play and… well, you get the idea! This loving Golden bundle of joy will make an incredible companion for you and for your other dogs, too.
