ADOPTED
My
name is Clifford & I was adopted from GRR in June. I quickly became part of my
new family and a much adored fixture in the neighborhood. The match couldn’t
have been better! I love our daily walks in the park and have made many new
friends both furry and human. None of them can believe someone ever gave me up
for adoption. I’ve learned to play, fetch, sit, and stay over the past few
months. I have a blast when we go to the dog park and now I’ll go in the water,
but I’m still not keen on swimming yet. I’ve been a fast learner, especially by
running around with my new friends. Mom & Dad have really enjoyed watching me
come out of my shell around other dogs. However, I’ve never been shy around
people. The vet says I’m up to a healthy 80-85 lbs., have put on some muscles,
and have the heart of an athlete…they loved me there too.
We all welcomed my baby sister in August and I have been sooooo good with her. I
nap on her floor and come get our parents whenever she starts crying. Mom & Dad
know that I’m going to be her best friend for years to come. They had a glimpse
when our cousins, ages 8, 6, 3, and 10mths. came to visit and couldn’t get
enough of me! I was so patient with them and flipped over for belly rubs
regularly. We’ve had lots of visitors stay at the house the past few months and
most have threatened to stow me in their suitcase and take me home with them.
My mom & dad really couldn’t be happier with me joining the family. I sleep on
the floor of their room every night and wake them up sometimes because I am a
rather loud dreamer. It is the only time they ever hear me bark… I’m an alpha
dog in my sleep. I love my good rubs before bed & when I wake up in the morning.
I also really enjoy baths and being brushed. We get lots of compliments about
how beautiful I am. My favorite toys are my squeaky bees, my squirrel, and my
rawhide bones.
Thank you GRR for making such a thorough match with my new family…it is like I
have always been a part of it and we are all thrilled.
Can’t wait to see everyone at the Pond in October!
Take care,
Clifford, Andy, Karen, & Kinsey Silcox
Clifford...
Hello! My name is Clifford, and I am a big red dog! Well, I am really not as big
as the dog in the children’s books, but my heart is probably as big. I have been
doing great since I arrived at my foster home a few weeks ago. I can’t even tell
you how much I LOVE being inside with a family! I was kept outside at my former
home. I used to be a cute, furry puppy, but I grew and wanted attention. My
previous family didn’t know what to do with me (and truth to tell, some of them
didn’t really like big dogs), so they put me outdoors. When they came out to see
me, I got so excited that they decided I was boisterous, hyper, and “too wild,”
but I have not been any of those things in my foster home. As a matter of fact,
I learned “sit” in only 3 days, and I always sit before you pet me. I have even
learned to walk on a leash without pulling. We are working on “come” right now.
I am a fast learner! I have overheard my foster Mom telling many people what a
great dog I am and how smart I am. I am starting to believe her! I adore the
kids in my foster home, and I am most content when they are all around me. I
just love kids and would love to have a forever home with children.
I need to let you know that I really do not like thunderstorms at all. They
frighten me a great deal! Thank heavens I am inside with my people when those
storms hit, though—it was way more scary when I was all alone outdoors. I am
also adjusting to being in a crate. If I am outside with you, I will make sure
that I come inside with you, too. That way I know I will not be left outside
alone again, and besides, I really want to be with you wherever you are!
I am currently living with a cat. Sometimes I find her very interesting, and at
other times I couldn’t care less if she is in the room. But as for those
squirrels outside … well, if you need an official squirrel chaser in your yard,
I am your man! I am also sharing my new home with another dog. She has taught me
a few things about house manners, and I am happy to report that I like other
dogs and am always happy to meet a new canine friend. You will be so impressed
with me!
I was too skinny when I moved in with my foster family, but I have put on a few
pounds and am looking nearly “ideal,” if I do say so myself. All in all, I am a
big, handsome, reddish, 70-pound Golden who just wants to be loved and to be
part of a family. I am so eager to please and am so grateful for any love that
comes my way. I promise to return that love in more ways than you can imagine!
