ADOPTED

Cisco... My name is Cisco. I came to GRR from a family who got me as a tiny puppy and loved me very much, but they had to move abroad unexpectedly and, try as they might, they could not figure out how to take me with them. So they called GRR for help.

I am just 18 months old, but I am already really tall. Still, I don’t always realize how big I am, especially when I get excited!

I am a very good boy——well, most of the time. I am housebroken, and have been left alone with no accidents. I don’t like that “crate” thing, though, and the feeling is mutual! The crate doesn’t like me and roars and rattles whenever I go near it… so I don’t. It’s okay, though, since I really don’t need a crate. I haven’t chewed up anything that wasn’t mine, except a pencil that I found on the floor (well, it was right there on the floor!), and, of course, the occasional napkin or tissue. My foster mom and dad say I am smart, too. They are teaching me all kinds of things. I can shake paws. I have one paw named “right,” and another named”left.” I try to remember which is which, but sometimes I get confused—but I will get it down eventually! I also know SIT, STAY (sort of), WAIT, and SETTLE/LIE. I like it when they teach me new things. I do yoga every morning, at least three Downward Dogs, and I am trying to learn Cobra. That is very hard.

I LOVE everything, but especially people of all sizes and other dogs. I just want to run up to everyone and greet them. My people are training me to HEEL. Wonder what that means? I guess I’ll learn, considering they keep pulling at the leash when I pull and say HEEL to me.

I really like the other dog here, but she doesn’t play much. Sometimes, if she won’t play with me, I will pull on her collar till she gets up and then she will play a bit. I have lots of energy, much more than she does. My foster family took me to a dog park and boy was it a blast. I got along with everybody and played with many. Boy, that was fun!

I have lots of toys to play with. I play FETCH, which is a lot of fun, but sometimes I lose interest. I guess it depends on which toy it is. Some of the toys even talk to me, so I can play with them all by myself, but it’s more fun when the people play, too. We play “tease or retrieve” and I really like that a lot. My backyard has a pond that I can jump into when no one is looking. The people here don’t seem to like that very much, but they don’t get TOO upset unless I bring the pond into the house. I just love water, and will try to climb into the smallest of puddles. Once, at the Dog Park, I even climbed into the water bowl, but I could only get three paws in. I used to go swimming at my first home, so if you have a pool, I will be thrilled to help you enjoy it!

I could go on and on about what a great dog I am, but I think you should meet me and find out for yourself. I am looking for a family that is very active, maybe with children who I can play with (nothing too small or fragile, please)—and oh, yes, it would probably be better if you didn’t have a cat. I am told that I am much too rough with them, but believe me, I am only playing. I just get way too excited!

My one bad habit is that I am bit mouthy. Don’t get me wrong; I don’t bite, but when I get excited, I somehow wind up with a mouth of full of your hand—and it is a very slobbery mouth, because I always walk away from the water bowl with enough water to share. My foster parents are working on this one, too.

Well, that’s my story. I hope you will come and see me soon!

Paws-itively yours,
Cisco

P.S. Another person came to visit. We call her “Mom” and she is super nice. She thinks I’m swell, and she wrote a poem all about me. Here it is.

CISCO
He stands just over 3 hands tall,
Soft golden fur, tail, ears and all.
He likes to play with toys and things,
And if you throw he quickly brings.
He likes to play with those of his kind,
And can be taught to sit and mind.
He wants a home with lively, loving folk,
Who he can kiss, as well as poke.
If you’re the ones he’s looking for
He’ll love you now and evermore!
