Miles..His
name is Miles, and we think it could be “Smiles”! He has lots of smiles, and he
brings lots of smiles, too. Just a little over a year old, he’s a reddish blond
boy who is full of energy and is as playful as you want. He’s a smart fellow who
knows how to “worm” his way into your heart—and under your elbow for a petting.
“Smiles” is a tall boy with a big heart. He loves to swim and to retrieve tennis
balls. He has even learned to bring the paper into the house in the
morning—usually because he steals it from his paper-getter tutor, our 8-year old
Golden Sam, and sometimes because he gets to it first!
“Smiles” likes to “talk” a lot. He expresses himself with groans, soft barks,
and sometimes loud, expressive, “let’s-play” barks. His favorite squeaky toy
becomes another voice for him as he bounces from room to room squeezing it and
making himself heard! He learns quickly and is friendly and happy with our other
two Goldens. He plays easily with both of them and they all have fun together.
He isn’t aggressive in his play, just “pushy” to get them started playing! But
he knows when to settle down and relax, and is a wonderful TV-watching
companion. He may climb part way up on your lap, or will lounge easily at your
feet. And he’ll be smiling the whole time!
He’s
a good walker and is interested in everything. He’d very likely chase outdoor
cats, but we don’t know how he would act with an indoor kitty. We think he’d try
to play with the cat, but would take the cat’s “instructions” as to boundaries.
After about two weeks of crating, we’ve begun leaving him loose in the house
when we aren’t home, and we’ve had no problems with chewing, house-training
“accidents,” or clawing. We do have two other dogs who keep him company, though,
so we don’t know how he’d act if left all alone. We do know that most year-old
Golden boys would get into mischief in those circumstances!
Miles
likes children. He always pays attention to the youngsters we encounter on walks
and is happy to see them—but at his age, he’d probably bowl them over if they’re
younger than eight to ten years old. He likes other dogs and doesn’t seem to
have an aggressive bone in his body. His soft, silky-smooth coat is great for
petting and he loves attention. “Smiles” is looking for a family with two-legged
playmates and four-legged playmates to have fun with and to call his own. Is it
your family?
