ADOPTED
Georgie...
Hi, my name is Georgie. My foster Mom says I am very sweet and a fast learner,
and I am settling in really well. I haven’t spent much time in a house before,
so I am a little nervous about all the new things here, but I just watch my
foster-brother Tommy. He is a very brave Golden! He knows everything about my
new home, so I follow him around and let him show me the ropes. I am a very neat
girl and haven’t had even a single “accident” in the house, so I am now allowed
full access.
One
thing I really enjoy is redecorating. I never touch the humans’ things but oh,
the toybox filled with dog toys!! They are just piled in there and look so
messy. I did mention that I am very neat by nature, so I just have to do some
organizing! I take the toys out very carefully, one by one, and arrange them in
certain parts of the house. Wherever my foster Mom is, that’s where the toys go.
I keep working until I have emptied the whole toybox and arranged the toys in a
neat pattern on the floor. The only problem is that she ruins all my work by
picking up the toys and putting them back in the toybox. Sigh... Then I have to
go back and arrange them all over again. I have no idea why my new family finds
this so amusing.
The only thing that I really don’t like is that horrible noisy car they keep in
the garage. They make me jump up into it and take me around to different places.
Not only is it noisy but all that motion, stopping and starting. It’s enough to
make any little girl nervous. Tommy seems to like it though, so I am getting a
little less anxious. Now, if only he wouldn’t hog the seat so much. Boys!
As much as I like it here, my foster Mom says that I won’t be staying here
forever, because there’s a very special forever family out there just waiting to
take me home and love me. I can’t wait to meet them!
Georgie’s foster Mom says:
Georgie is so sweet and loving. She came to us as a shelter dog with no training
whatsoever, and didn’t even know her name. We have been working on basic
obedience commands, and she’s a fast learner and has adapted to being an indoor
dog very well. We had thought she lived entirely outdoors, but she definitely
seems housebroken, and so far we don’t have even one bad habit to report. She
doesn’t counter surf or beg for food; she doesn’t run around too much or jump on
people. Somehow, she knows not to go crashing around inside a house! On her
walks, she pulls a little, but a gentle check on the leash stops it.
Since
she hasn’t spent too much time inside a house, there are some things that seem
so new and strange to Georgie. She won’t enter a new room unless she gets plenty
of encouragement and can follow our Golden Tommy in. She is terrified of the
staircase leading to the second floor. But she is a fast learner, and some of
the things that startled her on her first day—like the washing machine—no longer
bother her.
Although she goes outside with us and plays, she prefers to be quietly inside
near her people. She’ll retrieve stuffed toys but doesn’t seem very interested
in chasing balls or Frisbees, although that may change as she becomes more
comfortable. She is very good with my dog and with everyone who has visited us.
She went straight in for a check-up and spay after coming into GRR care, and she
was an angel at the vet’s—very well-behaved and let them do everything they
needed without protest. She’s a healthy girl and is recovering well from her
spay surgery.
Georgie is a beautiful Golden with soft brown eyes and a pretty “smile.”
Although she likes to be near me, she isn’t overly clingy or needy. She loves to
be brushed and petted, and is learning to play with us. She allows us to pick
her up, and to groom and clip her. Georgie’s coat is very soft and luxurious,
and is a lovely red hue—in the sunlight, her fur just gleams.
Georgie is just a wonderful, well-mannered girl who is already blossoming in a
caring and loving environment, and she will only get better as time goes on!
