ADOPTED
Benny
is a handsome red-gold hunk who came to us when his loving owner had to
move into a small apartment—and realized that, at around 100 pounds, her
“Beaner” just needed more room! Three-year-old Benny is a tall boy with a long
body and a big, fluffy tail. He moved into his foster home last week, and here’s
what his foster mom and dad have to say:
“After a day or so, Benny settled right in with us. He’s a very affectionate boy
who likes to ride in cars and go for walks, too—which is good, because he needs
to drop a few pounds. When he heads out for a stroll, he’s friendly to everyone
he meets—kids, adults, and other pets. He plays well with our K-9 contingent,
too. We’ve hardly heard him bark at all, unless he sees someone out the front
window near the house. One funny habit he has is that he likes to drink water
out of the birdbath and garden hose.
All in all, Benny has fine manners, but we are doing a little polishing in just
a few areas. When we arrive home for the day, he wants to jump on us—he tries to
hold back, but he is so excited he has trouble controlling himself. We’re
working on that, and we know he’ll soon figure out that you get more pets for
keeping all four paws on the ground. He also wants to sleep on the sofa—so if
you like a dog beside you while you watch TV, he would be thrilled to oblige! We
don’t allow our crew on the furniture, though, so we are working on breaking
that habit. And then, about that diet… he decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day
early this year and have some chocolate, so he made a counter-surfing raid on
the breakfast bar. He knocked off (and broke) a large glass bowl filled with
Hershey’s nuggets… and ate a chocolate bar, all the chocolate nuggets, the foil,
AND the paper wrappers, too! (However, somehow he forgot to sweep up the glass.)
“Sweets to the sweet!” he must have been thinking. We’re happy to say that he
has suffered no ill effects from his spree, and now we’re making sure to keep
treats out of his reach.
If you are looking for a great big boy who just adores attention and gets along
nicely with everyone (and who wouldn’t be looking for a dog like that!), Benny
would love to meet you.
