ADOPTED
Trooper...
My name is Trooper, but my foster people call me Super Trooper. I am full of
energy and life and would love nothing more than for a nice family to adopt me.
I was living with a nice family and lots of children before, but life changes
made them have to find me new place to live. They got me from a shelter—and the
shelter workers don’t know where I was before that. It doesn’t matter now,
though, because I am getting ready to be someone’s best friend.
Somehow in the past couple of months I managed to crack a tooth right down the
middle. And nobody noticed, but for the longest time, that tooth hurt and hurt
and hurt. It hurt so bad that I couldn’t eat and felt grumpy. Oh, and was I
hungry! I smelled delicious food, but could only lick on it. How frustrating!
After a quick trip to the vet, I was good as new. My foster mom got the tooth as
a memento and says it will make somebody a nice necklace. (: Now I can eat and I
am not one bit grumpy. I’m so happy that sometimes I get excited and bounce
around. My foster family taught me that bouncing on people is not appreciated,
so now I just bounce around the yard when I’m looking for frogs.
You wouldn’t believe what else I’ve learned since my arrival at Gold Ribbon
Rescue. If I sit still, I get treats. Everyone gets treats for being good, and I
can wait my turn. And when I take a treat really gently, I get rewarded with
another treat. It’s like magic.
My foster buddies, Mouse and Dawn, work very hard at teaching me the rules of
the house. There’s fetch the tennis ball, vacuum the treats, body slam, chase
the frog, tug-of-war with kitchen towels, and crate for meals. People say I’m
excellent at these games and full of enthusiasm. That’s my philosophy. You only
live once, so do it with gusto!
My ideal day is one full of running around the yard and chasing the ball, capped
off by a good belly rub and a nap. And don’t forget about my breakfast and
dinner. Can’t miss those. If you could, add in some chicken too. If you think
you can enjoy life as much as I do, give me a ring and we’ll set up a play date.
