ADOPTED
Kikki
is a two-year old boy who may have decided to never grow up! He looks and acts
just like a big, adorable puppy but old enough to know all the good behaviors of
a happy, willing-to-please Golden. Perhaps he was denied his childhood and is
reliving it now? We don't know, but it sure works for him! He can be so bouncy
and silly - just a buddle of energy - and yet be so cute and cuddly all at the
same time. He's tall and lanky, as big as our 6-year old dog, and he's so fast
and agile. Kikki is a true athlete.
The
hardest part of fostering Kikki, besides knowing we have to let him go, was
keeping him quiet while he recovered from his neutering. He just didn't
understand why we wouldn't throw the toy. He is the best retriever we've ever
seen. Not only does he drop the ball at your feet, he'll put it in your hand if
you ask him to. His favorite trick is to catch the ball in mid air. We've
started him on a Frisbee, but he still likes the bounce of the ball.
Although
he does get a little wound up after a good retrieving workout, he calms down
fairly quickly when it's time to come in and relax...and time to go to bed. He's
out like a light in minutes. During the day while we're at work, Kikki has the
run of the house. He's housebroken and doesn't seem to do much but sleep while
we're gone. He has chewed up a couple of small articles of clothing, but it was
pretty much under our noses-- while we were home and not paying attention to
what he was up to. We don't give him plush toys anymore, just in case he can't
tell the difference. His favorite toy is a pliable, rubber squeaky toy.
Kikki
loves our dog even though she doesn't pay much attention to him. We haven't
observed him with cats or kids but know he spent his first years with a toddler
and was fine. He is such a happy, well adjusted dog, and as hard as he plays,
Kikki always has time to stop for a big hug and kiss.
We think Kikki would thrive in a big, active family with lots of kids, who would
share their warm bed with him. He truly wants to be an integral part of a
family. He'll be the perfect dog, you can take him anywhere. He's smart, eager
to please, well behaved, beautiful, lovable...what more could you ask for?
