Shadow...“The young boy came out to the yard, and Shadow bounced up and lay down with him on the grass. As I walked away the boy had his arms wrapped around his dog.”

And so began the journey of Shadow to Gold Ribbon Rescue, a wonderful, robust, 7 year old strawberry blonde gentleman with a heart of gold. Shadow was spending all day outdoors on a tie-out chain, good weather and bad . Loved by one little boy but whose family did not understand that goldens are born and bred to be social beings needing love and attention.

Fetching is not high on his list, though -- he's one of those "non-retrieving" goldens. He likes to play with the tennis ball but just likes to pounce on it, mouth it. He will take it from you politely and will let you take it from him nicely, but does not get the concept of retrieving per se.

Shadow is up for a brisk walk whenever you are but if you're busy he’s happy to just hang out and give a cheerful hello by thumping his tail in a “hi, how ya doing” sort of way as you pass by.

Shadow would be great with children, He would be their best buddy there to play or there to console if someone was mean to them at school. Shadow would be great with a mature couple who love the companionship of a golden but do not want to have to train and exercise a dog for hours each day or worry about the couch being eaten if they go out with friends for an evening. Shadow would be great for a busy person who enjoys canine friendship and unconditional love at the end of a long day.

With a full body hula wiggle, smiles and squeaks of delight Shadow can make you feel like a rock star when you come home after being gone all day and everyone needs to feel like a rock star every once in a while.

Shadow is the one of the nicest, most endearing, well mannered, dogs we have
ever had. All this and adoration too! Who could want anything more?
