Brooke...I am sad to
report that we put our new foster dog, Brooke to sleep this afternoon. A quick
ultrasound found a huge tumor, probably hemangiosarcoma, which is a cancer
common to old Goldens. The tumor was so large that Brooke was in immanent
danger...if the tumor ruptured she would bleed out & it would be quite painful.
Lisa & I sat with Brooke as she made her journey to Rainbow Bridge.We estimate that Brooke was ~age 12. All of us can feel glad that Brooke had a wonderful 24 hours with Jill, and then another 24 hours at Biba Acres. During her last 2 days she ate yummy food, made many new friends -- human & canine -- and had many hours of one-on-one attention as we groomed her. She even attended a dinner party. :-) She slept on a soft bed, indoors in the midst of her new family, and she was loved. Thanks to all who made these last 2 days possible for Brooke.
