ADOPTED
Sam
is a cheerful 5-year-old boy whose owners surrendered him to GRR when they
could no longer care for him. He's a small fellow, just 55 to 60 pounds,
with a fringy, wavy coat. Sam has been living on a farm, and he gets along
great with all the other dogs there; he's a follower, not a leader, and
likes to keep his pal Duke the German Shepherd company. He even likes to
mingle with the horses. As a retriever, he IS interested in chickens and
ducks; he watches them closely and isn't above chasing them.
Sam
is housebroken and crate-trained. He's great with kids and doesn't jump up
at all-and he's too short to counter-surf! He knows "sit," "down," and
"come," but hasn't yet mastered the concept of "stay." He likes to grab and
nibble at your clothing when he's trying to get your attention, but his
foster mom has almost broken him of that habit. He's fond of splashing in
water and enjoys going for a swim. When he's waiting for a pat or a treat,
he tends to hunker down right in front of you, wagging his tail vigorously.
This is very cute!
Sam's small size and "nonstandard" coat indicate that there may be a few
drops of terrier or schnauzer blood way back in the great-greats of his
family tree, but his personality is all Golden. Is there someone out there
looking for a friendly, even-tempered little guy like Sam? He would love to
meet you and complete your family!
