ADOPTED
L ucky... Hi, my name is Lucky. I'm a gorgeous
3-year-old boy who just loves attention (well, what Golden doesn't?).
Less than a month ago, as I was in the midst of another Grand Escapade
around the city, I was captured by the Animal Police. Neighbors reported
that they'd seen me running loose before-but no owners appeared to pay the
fine and bail me out of jail. So GRR was contacted, and they gladly made me
an official Gold Ribbon Rescue dog. I even got a shiny new tag with my very
own GRR number!
Knowing my background as a dog-about-town, my foster dad was worried that I
might be an escape artist. That concern vanished in an instant,
though-during my first days in foster care, I was more concerned about
getting INTO the house than out of it! Even if my foster mom and dad were
outdoors with me, I thought they might try to slip inside without me while I
wasn't looking. But I soon I learned that they'd always wait for me until I
finished doing my business, and then we'd all go inside and I'd get a nice
meal. And by the way, I haven't had one single accident indoors! If I need
to go potty, I either sit by the back door or run back and forth between the
door and wherever mom or dad might be, till they realize what I am telling
them.
I love food puzzles, and I can spend hours trying to get the treats out. The
blue square toy that I'm playing with in these pictures is my food puzzle.
Several days ago, though, I made an important discovery: it's easier to get
to the food by cracking the opening of the puzzle than by rolling it for
hours. (Nobody ever said I wasn't smart.) I like kongs, too. They are great,
especially when there's food inside-yum!! In fact, I have a hard time
sleeping unless I have a kong in my crate; I'll cry in protest until it's
put back where it belongs, with me. My foster parents often give me and
Chidori (my foster sister) a midnight snack of a stuffed kong before we go
to sleep. I guess we're fun to watch as we slurp the kongs and roll them
around, because mom and dad never fail to enjoy the show!
I like water a lot. At first I had to be coaxed into the pool with a little
push, but once I was in I swam back and forth and had a great time.
I still to learn some manners, of course. After all, I'm just a
teenager. But I'm sure with love and patience, I will be the greatest dog
ever! I think my name is perfect-I feel very lucky that GRR found me, and I
know somebody out there will feel just as lucky to have me as their forever
dog.
